HELPFUL HINTS

Here are a few tips to help make your life easier:

American Academy of
Dermatology has provided these recommendations to prevent or relieve dry-skin discomfort:
:

Bathe in warm water for 5 to 10 minutes. Use a mild soap. Put on moisturizer right after bathing while your skin is still moist.

Use a lubricating agent like shaving cream before starting to shave your legs or face, change blades often and shave in the direction that hair grows to minimize the irritating effects.

Keep skin moist throughout the day as needed especially if you wash your hands a lot.

Use a lotion that has ingredients of petrolatum, mineral oil, linoleic acid, ceramides, demethicone
or glycerine on the product label.

Rub a small amount of petroleum jelly on problem areas to seal in moisture and heal very dry skin.

Use a hydrocortisone cream when your
skin is red or itchy or if you have mild
eczema.

If the dry skin worstens using these measures, contact your physician or dermatologist immediately.

DEODORANT STAIN REMOVAL
On most washable fabrics, to get rid of most fresh deodorant and antiperspirant stains, rub the areas with undiluted white vinegar, let set for 5 minutes, so the vinegar can work, then launder as you normally do using the appropriate water setting for the fabric.  Air dry, don't put in the dryer because it will set the stain and retreat if needed.

GLASS CLEANER
Hard water built up on drinking glasses.Try soaking the glasses in hot, do not boil, household vinegar (white) for 30 to 60 minutes, then scrub with a nylon brush or  scrubby.   If hard water stains are still there, they may be  etched into the glass.

WINDOW CLEANER
2 cups of vinegar to 1 gallon of water. Use spray bottle to spray windows or mirrors with solution. Dry with newspaper for a streak-free shine.   Make  solution stronger as necessary.

FACIAL SCRUB
This makes a mild facial scrub by mixing 3 parts baking soda to 1 part water, or if you have dry or sensitive skin, put about a teaspoon of baking soda in your hand, pour in a mineral oil and mix together. Wash face, apply the baking soda mixture and gently scrub in small circles to remove dead skin. Rinse well and moisturize.

Hair Lightner

Rince hair rinse with lemon juice and your hair will become lighter (color) as you are in the sun.

Ants Away form the House

Sprinkle cinnamon and cayenne pepper along house exterior to prevent ants from entering your home. Ants will not cross the line.

Headaches

If you have a headache, drink some Gatorade. Headache will go away.

Pet stain cleaning carpet

How to clean pet urine out of your rug...saturate with 2% peroxide (let dry), saturate with white vinegar (let dry), cover entire rug with baking soda (let sit for a day), vacuum. NOTE: Please check your rug on a corner or back by pouring 2% peroxide to see if it removes carpet color.

To kill ants, pour dish soap on them.

You can clean your home with white vinegar. It is safe, not toxic, and a natural (organic) cleaner.

Use ice to get gum out of carpet or hair.

To eliminate coughing through the night, rub Vicks Vapor Rub on your feet. Cover with socks and sleep well.

To remove the garlic odor from your hands, use lemon juice (fresh or from concentrate).

If you have static cling, take a used dryer sheet and wipe on your clothes.

Measuring Cups
Before you pour sticky substances into a measuring cup, fill with hot water.. Dump out the hot water, but don't dry cup. Next, add your ingredient, such as peanut butter, and watch how easily it comes right out.

Foggy Windshield?
Hate foggy windshields? Buy a chalkboard eraser and keep it in the glove box of your car. When the windows fog, rub with the eraser! Works better than a cloth!

Conditioner
Use your hair conditioner to shave your legs. It's a lot cheaper than shaving cream and leaves your legs really smooth. It's also a great way to use up the conditioner you bought but didn't like when you tried it in your hair....

Goodbye Fruit Flies
To get rid of pesky fruit flies, take a small glass fill it 1/2" with Apple Cider Vinegar and 2 drops of dish washing liquid , mix well. You will find those flies drawn to the cup and gone forever!

No More Mosquitoes
Place a dryer sheet in your pocket. It will keep the mosquitoes away.

Broken Glass
Use a wet cotton ball or Q-tip to pick up the small shards of glass you can't see easily.

Desserts

Chocolate Bundt Cake

1 box chocolate cake mix
2 eggs
1 ¾ cups milk
1 small box instant chocolate pudding
1 package chocolate chips
Bunt pan

Mix first 4 ingredients together. Stir in chocolate chips. Spray bunt pan with cooking spray and pour in batter.

Bake at 350 for 50-60 minutes.

Dust with powder sugar or frost when cool.

Pretzel Candy

1. Preheat oven to 250 degrees
2. Either use parchment paper or lightly spray your pan with a little cooking spray. When the Rolo melts, the caramel comes out and will stick to anything!
3. Arrange small pretzels on the pan.
4. Place one rolo on top of each pretzel.
5. Bake for 3-5 minutes (depending on your oven). You just want to bake them until you see chocolate begin to melt.
6. Immediately press a Pecan half on top of each Rolo....press it down into the chocolate so the chocolate and caramel go down into the pretzel and the pecan sticks.
7. Let them cool.

*I put mine in the refrigerator overnight just to make sure they had plenty of time to set, but I'm sure it would really only take about 30 minutes or so.
